CALL TO ORDER BUSINESS MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS by Mary Spaay, 7:00 p.m.

MINUTES-4/18/00: MOTION by Spay/Woodburn to approve the minutes with the following amendments: A. Projected Budget Sent to Attorney E. "...the President may authorize..."

B.Misc. G. Special Event-Delma's Picnic. Delete mention of 101st birthday

C. Committees. A. Volunteer Activities shall be named Land Development & Restoration, Matt Sutter volunteers to serve on Horse Trails committee instead of Picnic Area committee. Motion carried unanimously, 7:20 p.m.

FOLLOW-UP/LAWYER: Vicki will contact Attorney Zilavy re: a. status of by-laws, b. tax payer ID number, c. question if donations accepted while we are processing the tax-exempt forms may be described as tax-exempt.

TREASURER'S REPORT:

A. MOTION by Woodburn/Hitchcock to accept the resolution to adopt the State Bank of Cross Plains as the depository. DISCUSSION: bank signature card, tax payer ID #, resolution form to be submitted to bank. Corporation address for these purposes shall be: 1870 Sutter Dr., Mt. Horeb, WI 53572. Bank will send banking paperwork to Treasurer Bob Woodburn at home address in MN. Donations shall be sent to Pat's address for now. Motion carried 7-0, 7:25 p.m.

B. MOTION by Woodburn/Hughes to authorize Treasurer Woodburn and Secretary Anderson to write a letter to the Friends of Dane County Park Foundation to authorize payment of bills totalling $3751.02 to Attorney Zilavy of DeWitt, Ross, & Stevens from funds segregated for Donald Park. DISCUSSION: Steve O'Neill to research pro bono accountant and attorney for future work. Motion carried 7-0, 7:45 p.m.

C. MOTION by Woodburn/Spaay to approve James J. Strycharske as CPA for the corporation. DISCUSSION: Mr. Strycharske, located in Mt. Horeb, #437-TAXX(8299), has nineteen years experience in tax accounting for a wide variety of small businesses. He estimates that it should cost approximately $200 to complete tax form 990, at $55.00/hr. He has worked pro bono for a Roadside Wheelers. Motion carried 7-0, 7:46 p.m.

D. MOTION by O'Neill/Hughes to accept the Treasurer's Report totalling $130.00 in donations. Motion carried 7-0, 7:49 p.m.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

A.4/26/00 Information Meeting with Doug Haag, Pat Hitchcock, Mary Spaay, and Vicki Anderson to discuss purchase of development rights and conservation easements as tools to expand and buffer Donald Park.

B. 5/16/00 Fundraising Presentation by Bunny Frank attended by Pat Hitchcock and Mary Spaay

LOGO CONTEST: MOTION by Woodburn/O'Neill to solicit temporary logo suggestions from each member of the interim Board of Directors to Secretary Anderson by June 1. DISCUSSION: Judy Koeppl has submitted several logos. She and Steve O'Neill may work on these. Since the 5/16 meeting they generated a logo that has been used on two mailings.

SPECIAL EVENTS: The Board of Directors decided to host two special events in June. Anderson and Spaay met that same week and generated the invitation and a donation coupon. Sutter volunteered to prepare signs. Hitchcock agreed to discuss details with Dane County Parks personnel. See excerpts from the 5/22/00 mailing to the Founders announcing the June 3, and June 20, events.

SPECIAL EVENT # 1: "Friends Meeting Friends" - Saturday, June 3, 2000, 12:00 noon, at the Farmstead Picnic Area, across Highway 92 from Donald Rock. Join us for a picnic overlooking the proposed fishing area for the physically challenged and take a short walk along the proposed hiking trail on "National Trails Day". Only grills and portapotties will be provided. Bring your own food, beverages, utensils, picnic blanket and/or chairs. Since there will be no insurance coverage at this time at the picnic area and trail, this activity is by "invitation only" to the Woodburn family and Founders and their families . In the event of rain, the picnic will be cancelled.

SPECIAL EVENT #2: "State of the Park" - a meeting of the Founders and others interested in becoming members of FoDP. - Tuesday, June 20, 2000, 7-9:00 p.m. at Pat Hitchcock's barn, 1870 Sutter Drive, Mt. Horeb. Attendees will be encouraged to express their opinions and will have input on projects and activites scheduled for Donald Park. We are looking forward to your participation on some of the following committees: Volunteer Coordinator (computer skills VIP), Publicity, Horse Trails, Membership, Education, Picnic Area, Fundraising/Grantwriting, and Stewardship/Development.Snacks will be provided. Weather permitting we may hike the restored prairie, wetland, and oak savannah areas.

PICNIC AREA REPORT: Woodburn reports that Jim Mueller and Mick Klein Kennedy, Dane County Parks, met with Ken Clark, planner, to define the picnic area, walking trails, and development criteria in the office and on-site. Friends Picnic Committee to be contacted when ready to act.

HORSE TRAILS REPORT: Hughes reports that he attended a DNR Board Meeting at which he learned that several horse trails are being developed/expanded. In the future it may be possible to ride from Donald Park to Monroe, WI. Joe Parr, WI State Horse Council volunteered to help with horse trails. FUNDRAISING COUPON/MEMBERSHIP CARDS: Steve O'Neill volunteers to generate a donation/membership form.

MISC: Please remember to save receipts for any expenses incurred. Also, log the hours & miles travelled on Friends of Donald Park, Inc. activities for reimbursement/in-kind tallies.

NEXT MEETINGS: June 3 and June 20. No Board Meeting will be held in June.
