DRAFT MINUTES - BOARD OF DIRECTORS - FRIENDS OF DONALD PARK, INC., AUGUST 7, 2001.

ATTENDEES: DIRECTORS: PAT HITCHCOCK, MARY SPAAY, MOLLY MURRAY, VICKI ANDERSON, STEVE O'NEILL, AND BOB GEIMER.

CALL TO ORDER WORK SESSION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS by M. Murray, 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting was to review the Master Plan for Donald Park. The document used for this discussion is the 17 page document entitled "Donald Park, Rural Dane County". It was agreed that a list of comments would be generated tonight that needed further research and/or discussion among the Board.

Questions and Observations:

1. Which document is the official Master Plan?

2. P. 2: In the vision clarification is needed re: "passive rather than active" and non-motorized.

3. " ", Stronger clarification re: not "overdeveloping the land with structures and asphalt".

4. P. 3: "Park trails are designed to connect with contiguous State owned lands and link to Military Ridge Trail and proposed club trails."

5. P. 5: "Donald Rock was donated to the Department of Transportation" Who owns it now?

6. P. 5: "marsh cattail" typo. Where is a cattail marsh in the Park? (Obtain Aaron hartman's map of the Park.)

7. P. 6: Frye's Feeder: Which trout is being stocked?

8. P. 6: Are more warm water ponds planned for the Park?

9. P. 7: What decisions have been made re: preservation of some existing historical buildings and historical crop fields, etc.?

10. Current management system for farm field in Park?

11. P. 10: Park map needs updating to reflect different names ( Savannah Ridge, Delma's Ridge, Pop's Knoll) and new "as built" location of trails. Where is the boardwalk?

12. P. 11: Equestrian Trails map needs to reflect "as built". Have the cleared trails been approved? Question re: opening at 5:00 a.m.

13. P. 12: Ski Trails and Horse Trails use the same space in some places? Groomed ski trails?

14. P. 12: Snowmobile Trails to be phased out?

15. P. 13: Missing page?

16. P. 14: Clarify that active games encouraged without gamefields, play structures, etc. Clarify design of shelter.

17. P. 16: Permanent tents? Vehicle access to camping areas? Roads, parking, etc.?

18. P. 16: Signage for hunting confusing, agreement?

19. Picnic Area: What are standards for opening park areas by Dane County Parks?

Maintenance- mowing,trash removal,etc.

AUGUST BOARD MEETING : 8/21/01, 7:00 p.m., Springdale Town Hall - Special Meeting with Dane County Parks Director Ken LePine to discuss the agreement between the Park and the FoDP, Inc. Please review the agreement.
